I have been tattooing since 1994, but unfortunately I did not get a traditional apprenticeship from the start. I tattooed friends for a few years till I had a decent portfolio, which allowed me to acquire a tattoo artist position for a shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico called Flesh Aesthetics. Here is where I had my apprenticeship. Learning all the basics needed for a successful tattooing career.
When Flesh Aesthetics closed because of management issues, I decided to join the Marines. During my first year of service I performed about 10 tattoos a week on mostly service members in Pensacola, Florida. I spent the remaining four years in San Diego, California and tattooed out of a long standing shop called Big City Tattoo. I have also spent almost a year tattooing in a studio called Screaming Monkey in Fort Collins, Colorado since separating from the Marine Corps.
Throughout my tattooing career, I have picked up a lot of different styles and techniques from over a dozen artists. This has given me the ability to tattoo in a variety of different styles. Currently I enjoy recreating life-like or photographic images in color or black and gray.
